I have compiled a list of items that I personally think are necessary to bring to Magical Mirai.

Essential Items

Ticket

Digital ticket / Paper ticket

You cannot enter the live concert or the exhibition without this, so it is absolutely essential.

Especially for paper tickets,

there may be separate tickets for the exhibition and the live concert,

so make sure that you have both.

Drinks

A bottle of at least 500ml is recommended.

In TOKYO, there is a fair distance between Kaihin-Makuhari Station and Makuhari Messe, so
you will likely sweat.

After all, the event is held in midsummer.

There are vending machines and convenience stores inside the venue, so it is possible to buy water.

There may also be collaboration drinks sold at the venue,

but the lines can be extremely long, making it difficult to get water quickly.

Considering possible emergencies, you should definitely bring your own drinks.

Frozen drinks (Optional)

Bringing frozen drinks can help keep them cold for longer.

However, when I brought frozen tea in a cooler bag,

it was still almost completely frozen even after three hours.

It stayed frozen when I wanted to drink it, so I couldn’t actually drink it.

That became a bit of a problem…

So be careful with drinks that freeze easily.

Bottle holder / Cooler bag (Optional)

It’s convenient if you have something that helps keep your drink cold.

Ice packs (Optional)

Some people also bring ice packs.

I even saw someone give their ice pack to a person who had collapsed from heatstroke.

Wallet

You may want to buy merchandise at the venue,

or purchase drinks and food, so this is an essential item.

Cash (Optional)

Some items at the exhibition are sold with cash only. (as of 2025)

There are also cash-only registers, and some booths where you can check out faster using cash (corporate booths).

The Gashapon area is cash only.

You could exchange money inside the Gashapon area from 1000 yen to 100 yen coins using cash only. (as of 2025)

Zipper bag / Waist pouch

You’ll need a zippered bag for valuables,

and something to store items you buy or receive for free at the exhibition.

Large bag (Optional)

Useful for carrying the items you purchase.

Some booths give you a shopping bag if you spend over a certain amount.

You can also buy shopping bags at the official merchandise booth.

Note: They may sell out. They tend to sell out quickly.

Optional Items

Clear file / Clear case (Optional)

At the exhibition, you may receive flyers or stickers.

Having a file to keep them clean and organized while carrying them around is convenient.

Bringing a clear case is also helpful to prevent them from falling out.

Parasol (Optional)

Considering the possibility of rain, this is almost essential.

Also, in the waiting lines, except for the early-morning queue areas, there is almost no shade, so bringing one is strongly recommended.

Commuter pass / IC card (Optional)

Bring one if necessary.

Some corporate booths may accept IC card payments.

Portable chair / Mini picnic sheet (Optional)

If you expect to wait in line for more than two hours, bringing one is recommended.

Roughly speaking,

about 1 out of 8 people had a chair,

3 people had some kind of ground sheet,

and the rest were either sitting directly on the ground or standing the whole time.

Handheld fan (Optional)

Having one while waiting in line makes the heat much more bearable.

Kaihin-Makuhari in TOKYO is near the sea, but honestly I don’t remember there being much wind.

Food

It’s a good idea to bring some light snacks.

Sometimes salt candy is handed out in the waiting line.

Prepare well before heading to the venue

For people attending Magical Mirai for the first time, it can be quite a demanding event.

Especially for the Tokyo event, it is held during midsummer when temperatures can be extremely high, so even getting there can be exhausting.

The reason I decided to write this article is because when I was waiting in line to enter the venue at Magical Mirai,
someone collapsed from heatstroke right in front of me.

Honestly, it was quite shocking. They fell hard and vomited, and I was very shaken as well. The staff seemed busy at the time, and even when someone called them, they didn’t come immediately.
I could only create some shade with my parasol. Someone else handed over the ice packs they had brought.

This is a once-a-year fun event, so make sure to prepare in advance and enjoy it without having a difficult experience!
